Saturday's Military and Veterans Appreciation Night created some changes atop some of The Bullring's 2018 divisional standings heading into the summer stretch.
Of the five classes that had points races on the special night, three saw changes at the top after the dust cleared at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway short track. In the USLCI Legends division, Michael Todd Glazier overtook Jaron Giannini for the points lead after Giannini was disqualified for failing tech inspection following an apparent race victory.
Glazier, a four-time track champion, leads Jaron's older brother, Branden, 120-109 in the standings, with Jaron Giannini tied for third with Dylan Fabozzi at 106. Amilleo Thomson broke a tie with Kaden Crouch for the USLCI Bandolero Outlaws lead after winning the division's 12-lap feature, and he leads Crouch 133-126 heading into race No. 6 of the season on June 2.
Kyle Keller parlayed a win in the 25-lap Jr. Late Models race into the points lead, overtaking Tanner Reif for the top spot. Keller leads Austin Edwards 77-74, with R.J. Smotherman in striking distance in third place with 71 points. Landon Gresser's fifth consecutive victory helped him widen his USLCI Bandolero Bandits lead over Sabastian Lafia to 149-135, while Sam Jacks expanded his lead over Chuck DeGuevara in the NASCAR Super Stocks division to 115-105 after Saturday's racing.
Drivers in nine of The Bullring's 10 full-time classes will accumulate points through Championship Night on Saturday, Oct. 6, with the Jr. Late Models championship decided at the Senator's Cup Fall Classic on Oct. 20.
Spectators can save money by buying tickets in advance through the LVMS Ticket Office at 800-644-4444 or online at LVMS.com, and all children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult. The Bullring concession stand offers great prices, including $2 hot dogs and Coca-Cola products and $3 Budweiser beers.
