Local racing stars Jaron Giannini and Kyle Jacks dominated the NASCAR 602 Modified Twin feature events Saturday night in the second round – “Going Green Night” -- of the 2025 Bullring Short Track season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The two 30-lap Modified main events were highlighted by some early race action at the 3/8-mile paved oval before Giannini, a double Pro Late Model winner two weeks ago, and Jacks, the Modified winner on March 8, stormed to the front of the field and drove their machines to easy wins.

Giannini, driving the No. 25 JGR/VerseTile & Stone/American Countertops & Floors machine, fought off Sam Jacks and multi-time champion Doug Hamm in the opening Modified contest as the Henderson, NV, youngster continued to show his racing skills with another appearance in the Bullring Winner’s Circle. Trailing the podium finishers were Kyle Jacks, Kayli Peterson, Ben Williams, Jimmy Petrie, Brian Reed, David Boardman, Donna Gunther, Scott Ozborn and Brian Williams.

“It’s been a long time since we put the Modified back in victory lane at the Bullring,” said Giannini. “The car felt good, and I knew the Jacks boys and Doug would be coming. I’m just happy to be making regular appearances in this spot (Winner’s Circle).”

In the second 30-lapper, K. Jacks jumped the lead from the fifth starting position and never looked back in his newly bodied Battleborn Racing No. 41 Modified after making several adjustments in the pit area after the opening main. It was Kyle’s second Modified victory, and it puts him in the early Bullring points lead.

Giannini had to settle for the runner-up spot followed by Peterson, in a tough battle for third, Sam Jacks, Hamm, Reed, Ben Williams, Brian Williams, Petrie, Boardman, Ozborn and RJ Smotherman.

“After the first feature, we threw the kitchen sink at the car with a lot of changes,” said K. Jacks. “With the inverted lineup from the first event, I knew I needed to jump out as quickly as possible to get away from my brother, Doug and Jaron. And the car was very good in the second race, thanks to my dad and Chris Bray.”

 K. Jacks made it a double win night by taking the No. 4 stock car to victory lane in the NASCAR Super Stock 20-lap finale after an early battle with veteran Don Geary. But, by the halfway point, Jacks held the advantage and took the checkered flag over Geary, Bill Paddack Jr.,Chris Birdsong, Mike McKearn and Kyle Turner.

Another double winner Saturday night was Greg Lee in the popular 12-lap Skid Plate twin bill in his fast little No. 24 machine with impressive wins over former Bullring champion Ken Coombs in the opener and Dylan Hummel in the second event.

“I just missed a spinning car late in the race, but we got the checkered flag,” said Lee. “We have won three in a row. Last year, we lost four motors in five races. It was a tough year. Now, we have a good motor, and we are back in victory lane. We would like to have more cars in the Skid Plates. If you have interest in driving in our class, please join us.”

A former Skid Plate champion, R.J. Smotherman, was the man to beat Saturday in the very competitive NASCAR Pro Late Models, as the young Pahrump racer jumped to the lead early in the 50-lap feature. Las Vegas veteran Spencer Gallagher returned to action after campaigning in the NASCAR national series, and Gallagher made an impact immediately. Driving No. 25 stock car which Giannini won in twice on March 8, Gallagher battled with Smotherman and young Cody Brown in some nose-to-tail action.

Smotherman and Brown put on a tremendous battle until the yellow flag came out on lap 42, and the field grouped back up for an exciting finish. Smotherman was ready for the restart and pulled away at the drop of the green flag. Brown got caught in some traffic and T.J. Roberts, Gallagher and Johnny Spilotro slid by the young Las Vegan. At the finish line, it was Smotherman, Roberts, Gallagher, Spilotro and Brown.

“I knew Cody was right on me for most of the race,” said Smotherman in victory lane. “The last restart really scared me. I had saved my car for most of the race. And I was ready when the green flag dropped. The car felt good and took off to the checkered flag. I want to thank my work boss for coming out and seeing us win tonight. The Jackson family gave a great car and thanks to them also.”

The highly competitive USLCI Legend Cars division featured 28 cars Saturday night and there was plenty of action including an eight-car crash on lap five which brought out the red flag. Young Brody Whitbeck of Golden Valley, AZ, fought off a series of challengers throughout the 25-lap contest despite several yellow flags and a tough competitor in veteran Parker Heffel. At the checkered flag, Whitbeck collected his first 2025 Bullring win with Heffel and Tract Walker Scott rounding out the podium (top-three). Completing the top-ten finishers were Jared Torres, Alex Roe, Spencer Gallagher, Bryanna Bruce, Ben Morabito, Darrell L. Stewart and Lafonda Meow.

“I knew Parker had lots of experience in the Legend Cars,” said Whitbeck. “I was trying to stay calm through the red flag and all of the yellows. I just ran my marks and was able to take the win tonight.”

The 12-lap INEX USLCI Bandoleros main event was a great battle for the lead with reigning Bullring champion James Trimmer, Wyatt Layne and Liam Hammond swapping the lead several times before Layne was able to hold off Trimmer and Hammond. Following the top three were Caitlyn Ford; Leila Trimmer, Maryah Solomon, Brooke Ford, Malcolm Mancias, Tucker Webster and Dylan Layne.

In the 30-lap Factory Stock Outlaws finale, former Bullring champion Michael Miller won the main event over Pete Meyer, the March 8 feature winner, Rob Pfaffly, Nick Lautenbach, Carl Duryee, Dallas Simonette, Vinny Raucci Sr. and Mason Sargent.

NEXT RACE: The popular “Hometown Heroes and First Responders Night” is next event at the Bullring and is set for Saturday, April 5, with the Pro Late Models, 602 Modifieds, USLCI Legend Cars, Super Stock, Factory Outlaws, Skid Plates and Bandoleros. Adult general admission is $10.00 with children 12 & under free.
