The new 2025 short track season opened Saturday night at the popular Bullring at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway but not much changed in fast Pro Late Model division with defending track champion Jaron Giannini dominating the action.

Giannini, the young Henderson, NV, racer, returned to the North Las Vegas racing facility with potent No. 25 JGR/VerseTile & Stone/American Countertops & Floors stock car four two 40-lap Pro Late Model feature events and left to first place trophies.

After recording six main events wins in 2024 at the Bullring, Giannini cruised in the first 40-lapper and got a little lucky in the second feature. But wins still count the same and Jaron is two for two already in 2025.

Starting sixth in the opener, Giannini paced himself as young Gavin Ray led the early portions of the event when a red flag came on lap 5. T.J. Roberts spun in turn four and collected the likes of Kylie Ith, Brian Pannone and Dave Campoverde.

On the restart, Giannini took the outside starting spot and grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag with Boise’s Aubree Cristiani, the third-generation driver and mother of two, running second followed by young Cody Brown, the former USLCI Legends track champion. The current track champion was never head in scoring his first Pro Late Model win of the 10-race Bullring series.

“I didn’t think I would win that race due to the car not feeling good in practice and qualifying,” said Giannini after the first Pro Late Model feature. “But we made several changes for the main and the car felt much better. I want to thank the VersaTile & Stone, American CounterTops & Floors and our whole team. They give me a strong car each week.”

In the second 40-lap main event, it looked like young T.J. Roberts was in control and Giannini had to come from the eighth starting position. Roberts jumped to the lead from his second starting spot and took over the top spot. Cristiani, quick all night in her No. 96 machine, closed during the middle of the race and trying many efforts to slide by Roberts for the lead. Meanwhile, Giannini was closing as well running in third.  With two laps remaining, Cristiani made an inside in turn two for the top slot, but she made contact with Roberts’ car. T.J. spun and Aubree’s machine sustained front end damage. Aubree was forced to pit and Giannini inherited the lead.

Two laps later and Giannini was a double winner Saturday night with second going to Brown followed by Johnny Spilotro, Mark Allison, Roberts, Houston Simonette and David Anderson.

“It was challenging coming from eighth in the second race,” said Giannini. “We got a gift at the end but that is racing. You need to be in the right place at the right time.”

Another former Bullring track champion showed his dominance Saturday when Kyle Jacks took the win in the 40-lap NASCAR 602 Modifieds in his popular No. 41 car. With new body work, Jacks took the lead from his brother Sam and the multi-time Bullring champion Dog Hamm.

The Jacks family have been regulars at the Bullring for decades and the Jacks brothers have proven to be consistent front runners with Hamm in the Modifieds. This time, it was Kyle who jumped to the lead and never looked back. After a good battle for second, Hamm took the runner-up spot over Sam Jacks, J. Giannini, Kayli Peterson, Brian Reed, Ben Williams, Jimmy Petrie, Scott Ozborn and David Boardman.

“We just got the body hung on the race car within the last 24 hours,” said K. Jacks. “This is a labor of love with my dad, Chris Bray, myself and the whole body. We had a really fast car tonight. It’s always good to beat Doug Hamm at the Bullring. He is a legend here. This is like a second job for us with the hours we put in, but we love it. Racing is like a drug. And we have been doing it for 13 or 14 years now.”

In the always competitive USLCI Legend cars, Sean Salazar got to the winner’s circle with his No. 17 car, coming from the pole in the 25-lap main event. Salazar had been close to victory lane last year, but started off strong in 2025. Salazar also won the Friday night Legends feature.

Second went to Brody Whitbeck, who gave Salazar late in the feature, followed by Alex Roe, Keaton Harbison, Danny Arnold, Connor Podloski, Austin Steinke, Keller Meechudhone, Ryan Phipps and Zeke Anderson.

“I could saw Brody in my mirror, and he was closing,” said Salazar. “And I felt him bump me towards the end, but my car was good. And I had enough to get the win.”

In the Factory Outlaw Stocks, veteran Pete Meyer had a fast car Saturday night as he fought off Vinny Raucci Jr. early in the 30-lapper. But Meyer had the advantage after the halfway point, and took the victory in his popular No. 96 car. Raucci, a multi-time Bullring winner in recent years, had to settle for runner-up followed by Rob Pfaffly, Nick Lautenbach, Aaron Mc Morran, Mason Sargent and Dallas Simonette.

“Thanks so much to the fans who come out to the Bullring to watch some great racing and have a good time,” said. Meyer. “We had a fast car tonight and that isn’t always the case. So, this win feels great.”

One of the best battles of the night came in the USLCI Bandoleros with young James Trimmer and Wyatt Layne with Layne leading early and Trimmer on his rear bumper. But Trimmer was able to slide inside on the front straightaway and then hold off Layne at the checkered flag. Trimmer was the 2024 Bullring champion and now he is a Bullring feature winner.

Rounding out the podium on the Bullring Opening Night was Malcolm Mancias followed by Caitlyn Ford, Jeff Conners, Brooke Ford, Leila Trimmer, Dylan Mancini, Dylan Layne, Tucker Webster, Austin French and Casey Piplic.

“I drove on the rear bumper of Wyatt for quite awhile to see if he would make a mistake,” said Trimmer. “Then I saw his car get a little slick and that’s when I was able to take advantage. It’s great to win at the Bullring.”

In the Super Stock main, several of the leaders had trouble throughout the race and it was Austin Pannone who hung in to the checkered flag score his first Bullring feature win. Second went to Kyle Turner followed by veterans Don Geary, Kyle Jacks and Bill Paddack Jr.

In the always popular Skid Plate division, the wild feature saw Greg Lee take his No. 24 car to the front and dodge the carnage to win his first 2025 main event and seventh in his brief career in the class. Second went to Trophy Dash winner Dylan Hummel followed by former Bullring champion Ken Coombs, Rich McMahon, Christina Harper, Austin Tognotti, Greg Matta, Luis Rivera and Preston Shaffer.

NEXT RACE: “Going Green Night” is next event at the Bullring and is set for Saturday, March 22, with the Pro Late Models, 602 Modifieds, USLCI Legend Cars, Super Stock, Factory Outlaws, Skid Plates and Bandoleros.
