Ross Chastain took a pit stop from the racetrack and joined students for a special Nevada Reading Week event where he inspired young racers and readers. The NASCAR Cup Series driver visited Lucille S. Rogers Elementary School in Las Vegas, where he engaged with students through storytelling and interactive discussions about the importance of reading and education.

Chastain read Driving Buddies by Apple Jordan to the students while sharing his personal experiences about how reading has played a role in his journey to becoming a professional race car driver. He emphasized the value of perseverance, education, and always staying curious—qualities that are just as important in the classroom as they are on the racetrack.

“The energy from these kids was incredible,” Chastain said. “It’s great to see so much enthusiasm for reading and learning about our sport. I hope they take away that no dream is too big if they keep working hard and believing in themselves.”

The visit was enthusiastic as students listened to Chastain’s insights, asked questions about his racing career, and shared their favorite moments about racing. The event encouraged students to read more and demonstrated real-world applications of literacy to the world of racing, from understanding race strategies to communicating effectively with a team. Chastain also signed the students' school project of their dream NASCAR paint schemes for their race cars, posed for photos, and encouraged aspiring young readers and future champions.

With the highly anticipated Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Cup Series presented by Jiffy Lube just a week away, Chastain is gearing up to inspire those on the track as much as in the classroom. His presence at Lucille S. Rogers Elementary School showcased the importance of literacy and learning, reinforcing that success in any profession starts with a strong educational foundation.
