Speedway Children's Charities Las Vegas Chapter has once again provided local children in need with an early boost of holiday spirit last night on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023. SCC Las Vegas distributed $520,391 in grants to 83 local child-related organizations during its annual grant distribution ceremony in the LocaliQ Digital Center at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Hundreds of children and representatives from all 83 grant recipients attended the event on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 6-8 p.m. Guests in attendance got the opportunity to meet with LVMS's very own Pit Boss, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department mascot Metro McGruff, Superheroes from Critical Care Comics and Santa Claus, who arrived on the back of a fire truck with a squad car escort.
In addition, each child received a toy provided by COACH South Premium Outlet, Schnitzer Properties and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The children and their families also got the opportunity to drive through the Glittering Lights holiday light show at no cost at the end of the grant distribution ceremony.
Since the Las Vegas Chapter's charter in 1999, more than $5 million has been donated to children's organizations in Southern Nevada. This year's fundraising season included Laps for Charity at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Drive for Charity Golf Tournament, the South Point Car and Truck Show presented by Star Nursery, Laps for Charity Under the Lights, Brendan Gaughan Celebrity Blackjack Tournament, the P.J. 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk and many fundraising opportunities during our NASCAR weekends like 50/50 raffles multiple times this year, two live auctions and two online auctions, two Track Treasure shops and the Vegas LargeCar Invitational.
